ZUO Décor celebrates its 1 Year Anniversary of Trendsetting
Celebrating for ZUO Décor’s 1st Anniversary begins at AmericasMart Atlanta this week Bldg 1 -Space F2and continues with a multi-national Summer 2018 event schedule throughout USA, Canada and Mexico. Showcasing their brilliant designs at upcoming Pre-Casual Market Chicago July 17-19 Suite 15-101 and then July 29-Aug 02 at Las Vegas Market Bldg A – Space A-442.
Since debuting in July 2017, ZUO Decor has made unparalleled strides with brand recognition in the accessories market by launching 3500 + products in only 1 year. Coupled by industry recognition and media features in numerous publications; (Home Accents Today, Furniture Today, Casual Living, Lighting and Décor, and Gifts & Decorative Accessories) their lifestyle brand and division of Zuo Décor is well on their way to taking the décor world by storm!
Director of ZUO Décor Andrea Guardiola - the powerhouse behind the home décor division celebrating their first anniversary with an interview; sharing her passion for home accents and the future of the company’s lifestyle brand.
Tell us about working with ZUO and developing their Décor Division?
“This experience – of developing ZUO’s first Décor collection and successfully navigating our first year has been personally gratifying. Looking back on what we have accomplished in only 1 year - truly amazes me. ZUO’s ability to overseeing and handle all the details; from product development, vendor relations and manufacturing efficiency. To the daily operations, samples, tradeshows and logistics - is astounding. Hearing the response from buyers across USA, Canada and Latin America is truly remarkable. I love seeing the visual displays that retail stores have created. Blending and creating their own personal ZUO Décor story and interpretation is an extraordinary feeling.”
Did you always know you would end up designing your own line?
Yes and no. My passion for design started early growing into a lifelong devotion for home decor. Opening my own furniture and home accents boutique in Argentina in 1994, I could not have foreseen where I would be today. I taught myself the business of sourcing and buying through hard work and with countless trips overseas developing product. Part of I learned from working for previous companies is the foundation from which I stand on today. Designing within the Home décor and Lighting Industry over the last 2 decades; I know I have joined a family here and found a home at ZUO. The success our brand has achieved over the last year is astounding and I could not be prouder of what our team has accomplished this year.
What is your favorite part of the design process?
“Honestly, I love the complete process. I could not say that one part out weights the other. From the initial design, sketches and conception, to seeing the samples merchandised on the floor. I love seeing the way our Visual team’s is able to seamless blend our furniture, lighting and home décor to create a story. They way they are combing emerging trends while transcending and creating new visual designs is breathtaking.
Do you have a moment you are most proud of?
This year has been amazing but on our very first show - July 2017 Atlanta Market we were awarded AmericasMart’s Best of Floor Award. Having the award come to us on the debut collection was twice as rewarding and also a huge surprise. Followed by the enormous honor of being only 5 companies nominated for 2017 ART Award - Home Accents Category in just our first debut was and incredible feeling. Then recently we were awarded best booth display during the 2018 HD Expo for Best Curb Appeal which elevated our brand with hospitality buyers.
What’s next for ZUO Décor? New trends? Or Collections being debuted?
Spring – Summer collections will stay true to ZUO’s moto for fun colors, diverse textures, and bold unique designs. Creating our own products I combine patterns and unique textures with innovative materials for a one of a kind design. In developing our Summer Collection I was personally inspired with colors wise with lots of mixed media elements, and organic looking materials. Color wise we added warm neutral tones, oranges, mauve, corals and bright greens, blues, purple. Some of the biggest lifestyle trends we created for Spring – Summer 2018 are a by mixing trends or styles that is uniquely ZUO Décor. These trends we divided into 4 main concepts; Boho/ Artisan, Luxury/Glam, 80’s Décor, Organic/Chic..
